Beiderbecke's License Hearing

The License Extension Hearing was held yesterday and attended by KM as a representative for the house (who was allowed to speak as well as attend!). I was unable to attend.

A good measure of success was had and I have included an extract of KMs mail to me:

"Due to the impact that it would have on crime and disorder and public nuisance, Red Square has no change to its licensed times, the patio area to Bix's Bar had previously no restrictions on its operation. I have managed to get restrictions in place so that it closes at 2130.

Unfortunately, Marmalade's and Bix's Bar have been granted an extension to serve alcohol until 0200 with 30 mins drinking up time. Not good news for HD in Flat 2.

In addition, the Borough Council will be surveying the suitability of existing sound proofing with adjoining properties.

We think the licensee will appeal the decision so obviously I will let you know in case they do not notify you directly. In your representation did you mention problems of noise from Marmalade's affecting Flat 2? If so then we have a case for getting that changed. If an appeal takes place and you cannot make it then I'll be more than happy to represent you. I only wish I had suggested that last week for today's hearing.

We're on a roll now, i think we should all go out for a drink to celebrate."

I have replied to KM and informed him that in my representation I made reference to the noise adjoining Flat 2, the questionable level of sound proofing and the effect on The Crescent and The Gardens. I shall pass my notes on to KM and I think we all agree that a very good job was done yesterday and we can be thankful for his attendance and knowledge on the matter.

There will almost certainly be an appeal from one party or the other. More to follow as and when.
