Communal Carpet & Painting

Now Spring is almost upon is it's time to revisit the overdue task of replacing the carpet and also the internal painting.

We already have one quote in from Sinclair's and last week I spent a long time at CarpetRight (whom I've used before) and I have included two sample pictures below (one with artificial light and one with natural).

CarpetRight came yesterday to measure up and quote and I will post the costing as soon as I have it.

Of the four carpets shown, I veer towards the sand or the brown ones (the middle two) - the quoter recommended the darker of the two but I think the sand one may warm the place up.

The other two carpets in the picture are not really suitable but I would like your opinions on the middle two in case we decide to go forward with the CarpetRight quote (which I think will offer the best value).

As for the painting, we have two quotes in to date and these differ hugely. We need to clarify one of them to ensure it's as good value as it appears and probably need to seek one more to get an average.

I would anticipate us giving the go ahead to both of these tasks in the next few weeks for completion in March.

Finally, I have finally got around to putting the felt & pin notice board up in the hallway - I hope it proves useful.

The CarpetRight quote has come in today at approximately £2100 including VAT and fitting. This allows for a good quality underlay, carpet track and the carpet (86 sqm).

We could potentially save a further 10% off the carpet price (less fitting) of £1850 with a voucher from Daily Express which would require a quick decision from us all. This 10% is by no means insignificant.
